3) IMF, World Bank and World Trade Organisation launched Reinvigorating Trade and Inclusive Growth Report
A report on ‘Reinvigorating Trade and Inclusive Growth’ was released by the International Monetary Fund (IMF),World Bank and World Trade Organization.

4) WHO launches first Global guidelines on Sanitation and Health
On 1st October 2018, to bring some successful changes in sanitation by 2030, World Health Organization (WHO) launched its first Global Guidelines on Sanitation and Health.
These guidelines summarises evidence on effectiveness in range of sanitation interventions. They also articulate the role of health sector in maximizing health impact of sanitation interventions.
Key Features – According to estimation, for every 1 US dollar invested in sanitation a nearly six-fold return can be expected. Thus, by adopting these guidelines, countries can successfully reduce the 829 000 annual diarrhoeal deaths due to unsafe water, sanitation and hygiene. The new guidelines are based on four principal recommendations which are as follows :
(i) Accessible toilets, for entire communities, that safely contain excreta, through Sanitation interventions.
(ii) Local health risk assessments to protect individuals and communities from exposure to excreta.
(iii) Integration of sanitation into regular local government-led planning and service provision.
(iv) The health sector should invest more and play a coordinating role in sanitation planning to protect public health.
These guidelines were made to ensure the achievements of health goals by the timeline.
Facts to know
Globally, around 2.3 billion people lack basic sanitation (with almost half forced to defecate in the open). They are among the 4.5 billion people who are refrained from access to safely managed sanitation services.

5) Delhi declaration on Renewable Energy adopted by 21 IORA Countries
21 countries in Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) adopted the Delhi Declaration on Renewable Energy in Indian Ocean Region. It was adopted at the second IORA Renewable Energy Ministerial Meeting held at 2nd Global Re-Invest India – International Solar Alliance (ISA) Partnership Renewable Energy Investor’s Meet & Expo in Greater Noida.
Objective of Delhi Declaration on Renewable Energy
• Collaboration among IORA member states in meeting growing demand for renewable energy in Indian Ocean littorals and promote regional capacity building.
• Promotions of technological development and transfer, accompanied by strengthening of public private partnerships (PPP) in renewable energy and collaboration among IORA member states and member nations of International Solar Alliance (ISA).
IORA member countries resolved to collaborate with International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA). They will also be collaborating with ISA member nations to exchange knowledge and share views and potential interests in renewable energy sector paved by MoU signed between IORA and ISA with focusing on the joint capacity-building programs, R&D activities in solar energy and exchange of best practices.
