Subject : The Impact of Irrelevant News through Social Media

Dear Sir,

I am a resident of Adarsh Nagar Society. I am writing this letter to express my concern over the impact of insignificant and irrelevant news which disseminates  through social media. It has now become the cause of unrest and violence among the masses.

The news regarding spiritual leaders, politicians and celebrities are being spread rampantly without even giving a thought. The false information results in rampages which turns into huge losses of life and property. Some people deliberately wish to cause disturbance by spreading such news. Mob lynchings are becoming a common scenario these days with respect to the ones who carry cows and fake news through social media gets spreaded and as a result people scruple every person carrying cows and take laws in their hands.

Sometimes, even terrorist activities and fake news related to earthquakes or any other natural disaster gets spreaded through the social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp etc. and in no time it gets viral. In some cases, the same viral news become so popular that one can witness them being telecasted on several TV news channels by our media without proper monitoring and planning. Since our media has an important role to play, it should bring the real picture about every topic- Government policies, terrorist activities, black money, law breakers etc. But unfortunately today media has become a publicity and sales promotion gimmick.

Here, at last through this letter I would like to appeal to the concerned authorities to look into the matter. Moreover, my sincere request appeal is for the people to stop trusting blindly to such channels or other media formats. I hope you will give some space to my views in the column of your renowned daily newspaper to spread this awareness among everyone.

Regards,
XYZ
