Here we have started with simple and easy numbers inorder to clear the basics for our readers. Once you are easy to deal simple digits, you can move towards advance calculations including more complex digits. After going through this article don’t forget to practice questions by yourself.
Q.) Multiply 12 by 11
Solution : Consider 10 as the base number and look out the difference of the numbers from 10. In this case first difference is +2 (12-10) and second difference is +1 (11-10). Now divide the answer in two parts. First part will have the number obtained after adding 12 and 1 whereas the second part will have the number as a product of two differences. The fact here which you always need to remember is that Number of digits in second part will always be equal to number of zeros in base. Here since number of zeros in 10 are only one, so there will be only one digit in the second part of our answer. Rest follow the instructions given in the figure below to understand it more clearly. Answer for this question is 132.
Q.) Multiply 11 by 15
Solution : We will be using the same method as described in the above question to multiply these two numbers or also you follow the instructions given in the figure below. Answer to this question is 165.
Q.) Multiply 17 by 16
Solution : Here in this case, after following the same method as described above, the problem will arise as what to do when there are two digits after multiplying the two differences. Since as mentioned above the second part can have only one digit as there is only one zero in the base, so we will carry over the digit at tens place to the first part and add it as shown in the pic below. Answer to this question is 272.
Q.) Multiply 14 by 18
Solution : For multiplying 14 by 18. The same pattern will be followed as described in the previous question. Answer to this question is 252.
Q.) Multiply 17 by 19
Solution : Although the numbers may look complex here but if deal with the same method can save some couple of valuable seconds for you in the examination. Answer to this question is 323.
Q.) Multiply 15 by 18
Solution : Similar method will be followed here also. The answer to this question is 270.
Q.) Multiply 14 by 19
Solution : The method is explained in the below figure. Answer to this question is 266.
Q.) Multiply 17 by 14
Solution : Refer the figure given below to it. Answer for this question is 238.
Q.) Multiply 13 by 16
Solution : The method is similar as used in all other questions explained above. Refer the below figure. Answer to this question is 208.
Hope these examples involving the multiplication of two different numbers in every case, can help you in learning the method more practically.
